My spraypaint works fine in COUNTERSTRIKE: SOURCE.

But it doesn't work at all in HALF LIFE 2: DEATHMATCH.

I have chosen a spraypaint at the options part.

Any idea why it doesn't work? Thanks....

Hmm supposed to work?
Maybe something is broken?

Question
How do I install a custom spray for Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Day of Defeat:
Source, or Counter-Strike: Source?

Answer
To install a custom spray for Half-Life 2: Deathmatch or Counter-Strike:
Source, you first need a valid image file. This can be either a .jpg, .bmp,
.tga, or .vtf file.

Once you have your image saved somewhere, go to Options > Multiplayer. Then
look under "Spraypaint image", and push the "Import Spray..." button. Browse
to where your image is located and hit open.

You should now see your custom spray in the window, which means it's ready
to be used.

Setting a spray only takes affect when you join a server, so if you change a
spray while in game, you will have to disconnect and rejoin for your new
spray to be used.

Sprays are not available in single-player games.

Not really useful, as I say, it's working in COUNTERSTRIKE: SOURCE, which is
the same engine as HALF-LIFE 2.

But thanks.

CS:Source and HL2 DM is running on different versions of source

Eg the way you build (and use) ladders in CS:S and HL2DM is completely
different

I'm not so sure about that - I thought the 2 games ran on the same
version of the source engine, just using seperate game .DLL files, CFGs,
Maps, sounds, models, <insert some part of the mod folder here>, etc.

Nope CS:S is running on an earlier version
There a few differences in the way you map for CS:S and HL2DM

Eg ladders is more easy create in CS:S
You can also look at the way ladders is performning in the two games

In CS:S you can easily get on a ladder and you can fall off if not moving in
a straight line
In HL2 DM it is a little more difficult to get on a ladder and you can't
fall off or jump off in midair easily

I also think you can shoot from a HL2DM ladder but not from a CS:S ladder
But I am not sure about this last thing :)

Ladders has been discussed thousand times or more in the modding forums and
the differences in the games has caused a lot of ranting against Valve :)

Hmm.. OK, i'll take your word for it ;) It just seems a bit strange to
me, since there is only one source engine GCF File in the SteamApps
folder, and because game entities are usually defined in the DLL rather
than the engine.

Yup, I can see why. ladders in CS:S mimic HL1/CS ladders (Yes you can
shoot from a CS ladder, but your aim seriously goes to pot). Ladders in
HL1 were slightly hackish, because they used MOVETYPE_FLY to create the
ladder effect, rather than creating a whole new move type. With that
said, the ladders in HL2 are a bit naff, and feel like a step backwards
in game design :)

And is created in the same way when mapping

A ladder in HL2DM is created by a completly new set of entities

Tried a different server? Does it work if you start your own game?

Many servers dont allow sprays.
