Hi

For some strange reason all bllod and gore has vanished when playing HL and
various mods under Steam
Running HL in a standalone installation gives me the blood and gore in all
it's glory - hehe

Any ideas?
Did Valve remove blood and gore in the Steam version?

Thanks/Peter

I believe you can disable the "content lock" either in gameplay, or
somewhere in the advanced options of the game. Perhaps it got turned on
somehow.

Actually it's the other way around (I think)
Check the "Lock content" option and add a "parent" password

Tried to enable/disable the darn thing - no luck

I'm pretty sure that content lock ON turns off the gore. Maybe I misread
your original post, but I thought you wanted blood on (= uncheck content
lock)

But if you're switiching it and it's not having an effect, I'm clueless.
I'm pretty sure steam HL has blood (it did the last time I played it) unless
it's changed recently...

Hehe I misread your post :)
Content lock is/was not enabled

I the meantime I found theses varables on planethalflife
http://www.planethalflife.com/half-life/guide/console/controls.shtm

violence_ablood 1 - Enables blood decals
violence_agibs 1 - Enables gib models (when enemy blows up). all
violence_hblood 1 - Enables more blood. all
violence_hgibs 1 - Enables more gibs. Hooray! Turning any of the
violence settings off will increase performance a little.

Let's see how this works - hopefully great :)
